Larissa Tormey to Compete as Songwriter in Irish Eurovision Final

Kilbeggan-based singer-songwriter Larissa Tormey is set to showcase her songwriting talents on one of Ireland’s most popular TV Show, the Late Late Show.

Her song, "Laika Party," co-written with a team of international collaborators, is one of the six finalists in the Irish Eurovision Final. The competition will be broadcast live on RTÉ’s Late Late Show on February 7, 2025.

The song “Laika Party” was selected from over large number of submissions received by RTÉ, making it a significant achievement for Larissa and her co-writers. Norwegian singer-songwriter EMMY will perform the song, which pays tribute to Laika, the first dog to orbit Earth. EMMY describes the song as a reimagining of Laika’s story, offering a vision where she continues to live happily, flying through space.

“Laika Party” was conceived during the Rena Song Fest, one of the largest songwriting camps ever held. Larissa teamed up with Norwegian songwriters Truls Marius Aarra, Henrik Østlund, Erlend Guttulsrud Kristiansen, and EMMY herself to bring this unique story to life.

For Larissa, who has been actively co-writing internationally under the guidence of DWB Music UK (greig Watts)since 2023, this marks a significant milestone in her journey as a professional songwriter.

This is not Larissa’s first foray into the Eurovision spotlight. Another song, written at the RENA camp- “Rough Waves” was shortlisted in 2024 by the Norwegian Eurovision Committee (MGP). Over the past two years, Larissa has written more than 60 songs, collaborating with artists and producers worldwide.

As a proud member of the Irish Songwriters Organization IMRO for over 20 years, Larissa has consistently contributed to Ireland's vibrant signwriting community, championing creativity, collaboration, and artistic excellence.

A classically trained vocalist and pianist, she has seamlessly blended her roots in classical music with Irish folk and modern pop influences. In addition to her success as a songwriter, Larissa continues to release music for her own artist project, recently celebrating the release of her heartfelt tribute to her hometown, “Kilbeggan’s Heart.”

Larissa’s versatility and dedication have earned her accolades, including the Sunday World’s Best Cultural Crossover Artist of the Year award. Her philanthropic efforts and active participation in Ireland’s music community have further solidified her as a respected figure in the industry.
