"Breath Of Fresh Air" Of Irish Music Scene

LARISSA TORMEY is joined by music stars DAVE SHERIFF and BRANDON McPHEE on her new single, BREATH OF FRESH AIR, which is set for release on October 23rd. And there's a very special reason why the trio are teaming up. Breath Of Fresh Air will also mark the release of Larissa's brand new album of the same name which fans will be able to get their hands on just in time for Christmas. The fourteen track long-player sees some of Larissa's most recent releases gathered together in the one place for the first time, including her most recent release, her own song You Miss My Smile, as well as the gospel classic Far Side Banks Of Jordan, the Big Tom anthem Going Out The Same Way You Came In, Ralph Stanley's timeless One Drop Of Water, Loretta Lynn's The Big Man, and another song from Larissa's own catalogue, the beautiful Inner Angel. Even that small selection of what fans can expect offers a strong indication that this could well be one of Larissa's most popular collections to date. And the album's forthcoming title-track, Breath Of Fresh Air, looks sure to seal that deal. Written by the great Michael Commins, a pillar of the Irish country scene for many's a year - and with Larissa among the co-writers - Breath Of Fresh Air also features the vocal talent of English singer/songwriter Dave Sheriff, and the gifted hands of the sublime Scottish accordionist Brandon McPhee. Looking ahead to the release of the single, Larissa spoke of her delight at having both men involved in this project. "I love Dave's voice, that's the first and most important reason why it's such a big honour to have him join me on this song. There are so many levels of texture to how it sounds, and he has this terrific way of making you feel every song he sings, not just hear it. And that's a very special gift for any singer to have. But apart from that wonderful voice, Dave has achieved so much over the course of his career. When you see names like Don Gibson and Porter Wagoner, and places like the famous Wembley Festival and the Grand Ole Opry itself showing up in an artist's story, you know all of that doesn't happen by accident. And Dave is such a gentleman as well, the perfect duet partner!" Also featured on Breath Of Fresh Air is Scottish accordion king, Brandon McPhee, another gentleman whom Larissa holds in high-esteem on and off stage, having met Brandon many times at events here in Ireland, describing him as such a charming and humble young man.
"Brandon is a phenomenal accordion player, so much energy and so much passion in how he plays. He became the All Scotland Senior Traditional Accordion Solo Champion in 2014, which was also the first time a button-key accordion player won this competition in twenty-seven years. And at just seventeen, that made Brandon the youngest ever winner of the prestigious Jimmy Shand Shield. He also won Hot Country TV's Accordion Instrumentalist of the Year in 2017, and their Johnny Cash Inspirational Award in 2016. Not only has Brandon had the honour of performing for Prince Charles several times at Buckingham Palace, he also performed a tune he composed himself, 'Birkhall Ball', for Prince Charles and Camilla at their Birkhall home in Scotland." The Breath Of Fresh Air album will also feature Larissa's version of the Michael Commins and Pat McKenna co-write, and The Wind On The Hill, the Hank Williams old-timer Why Don't You Love Me?
